WHY VOLUNTEER?

Since we are a non-profit adoption group, we depend on volunteers from the community to help us care for our fosters, help educate the rest of the community about retired racing greyhounds, and help them find their Forever homes! Volunteering is a great opportunity to learn how to care for and handle these wonderful dogs, as well as gain valuable skills! Volunteers will work hands on with our fosters and learn how to provide basic care for these wonderful dogs.

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?

Anyone who is willing and able! We always need help caring and socializing the dogs. Many of our volunteers are local college students, so we are able to be flexible with scheduling to accommodate classes and course loads. We do ask that you be able to commit to at least a couple hours a week. At the moment, because we are limited in volunteers who can supervise and train younger helpers, we may not be able to take on younger volunteers at the moment, however we encourage you to apply just in case!

WHAT DO VOLUNTEERS DO?

While Playing and walking the fosters is a big part of what volunteers do, there is also a lot of other things that we need your help with!

  • Kennel Care and Upkeep - Washing crates, changing bedding, and vacuuming

  • Foster Health and Grooming- Brushing, Nail clipping, brushing teeth, bathing, flea and tick treatment, helping with post-vet care

  • General Foster Care- playing, walking, feeding, and changing water

  • Adoption Group Events- assisting with meet and greets, helping out at the annual Birthday Bash, Handling the fosters in public

  • Social Media and Marketing-  Helping to manage the Facebook page as well as the development and upkeep of the website. Contacting local businesses to help find sponsorship opportunities
